Big mac statistics in a cartogram
Let’s look at the price of a Big Mac around the world…
Now more than ever one of the most popular ways of displaying statistical information is in the form of a cartogram. A cartogram is basically a type of thematic map in which the areas of spatial features are distorted in proportion to the value of an attribute. In this example I’ve created a small map of selected countries and showing the price of a Big Mac in each one with the size of the country determined by how expensive they are.

This next example is not strictly a cartogram but it is a good example of using mapping to help convey information.
