Requirement
Our parent company, Lovell Johns and specialist urban design and heritage consultant Pleydell Smithyman worked with North Warwickshire District Council (NWDC) in formulating a new green spaces management strategy. Realising their information was outdated, NWDC commissioned us and Pleydell Smithyman to provide GIS consultancy and a green spaces management road map.
Solution
The work consisted of producing over 70 A0 sized plots for NWDC based on Ordnance Survey (OS) MasterMap Topography layer, together with un-attributed and outdated green space data. NWDC categorised existing areas and marked new areas and updates on the plots. We then created a fully attributed GIS database of these areas consistent with the OS MasterMap Topography layer.
Result
The database supplied provides the council with a more accurate evidence base for tendering and negotiating on rates for grass cutting and green spaces management in general.
