Belmond provide luxury hotels, trains and river cruises stretching over 22 countries, including the Venice-Simplon Orient Express. They approached Lovell Johns with a requirement for a new design of map for use in brochures, online and in presentations.
We met with the Marketing Team to fully understand their detailed design preferences, presenting several examples of our previous work to stimulate discussion. Belmond were seeking maps that would be more engaging and have a sense of style, also contain more detail and adhere to brand guidelines.
Following a series of proof stages to agree a map style, brochure maps were completed to a tight schedule to hit print deadlines. Using open data, Lovell Johns produced a series of maps which were annotated by Belmond to highlight locations of particular interest. These particular locations were editorially researched and added to the map to make a bespoke image of the routes to be followed by each journey.
