Carbon Footprint Mapping
A carbon footprint is an indication of the impact of human activities on the environment. Carbon footprints are calculated in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced and measured in weight of carbon dioxide. They are useful for individuals and organisations to conceptualise their impact on global warming and hence climate change.
A carbon footprint can be best calculated by thinking about the full life cycle of a product or service. For example, in ordering some office chairs, things a company needs to think about include the amount and type of energy required to manufacture each component, the means of transport of each component to the assembly plant and the transport to and from the furniture supplier. Every stage impacts on the carbon footprint of the product.

Lovell Johns can help you visualise your carbon footprint. By mapping the components of a products’s life-cycle, we can show you how you can reduce your impact on the environment, improve your green credentials and possibly save you money. We have many years of experience of handling and displaying geographic data and we are able to use many data types including spreadsheet outputs, text files and GIS formats. These data can be used to map your carbon footprint, convey environmental information to your shareholders or identify ways to save money.
