Mapping for Publishing

Lovell Johns is a mapping company with over 45 years experience of providing cartographic services to publishers. We have a broad range of skills including map design, production, database, web and application development.

We are technically strong in providing quality mapping for traditional use, i.e. within books, however we are increasingly working with publishers to develop mapping for other formats such as eBooks, websites and apps. Depending on the remit we will ensure that the mapping supplied is suitable for use across a range of different formats.

Where possible we use royalty free mapping to bring down the costs that may have been applicable for multiple prints or downloads. With royalty free mapping there are no licences to pay on an ongoing basis. Since April 2010, Ordnance Survey have provided a range of royalty free mapping which we are able to customise to each publishers requirements in their house style. We have a specific range of royalty free mapping, MapVu Outdoors, which is comparable to the OS Landranger and Explorer products. This allows guidebook, outdoor and educational publishers to replace what has previously been expensive map data with a royalty free product.
