Regent’s University London is one of the UK’s most respected independent universities and one of the most internationally diverse, with around 140 different student nationalities on campus. They approached Lovell Johns with a requirement for a set of location maps to help students find their way around the local area and University campus.
For the Overview map, our cartographers suggested using Lovell Johns MapVu 10 base mapping, based on Ordnance Survey data, which was restyled to make the detail as clear and uncluttered as possible. As the main use of the map is for visitors on foot, unnecessary additional information was removed to leave roads, rail and tube stations, parks and key landmarks only. The University buildings were highlighted in a bold style and labelled to make them stand out well. The Campus map was drawn from plans supplied by the University and produced in the same style as the Overview map, but with clear annotations for the main parts of the building. Lovell Johns liaised with the client throughout production, providing several proofs and design advice throughout.
The maps were well received by the client and delivered to schedule for the University to use on their website and within promotional material.
