Requirement
The Westway Trust manage 23 acres of previously derelict land in North Kensington, transforming the area into a safe and attractive environment on behalf of the local community. The Trust approached Lovell Johns with a brief for data visualisation by taking on a professional looking redesign of a previous map of three London Boroughs in the area. The map was required to show locations of current and proposed health services together with deprivation data, for inclusion into a report.
Solution
Health service locations were provided as an address list in Word format and geocoded to find a geographic location, with any address issues being resolved. Deprivation data was sourced and styled according to the Indices of Deprivation, a dataset which provides a relative measure of deprivation at the required scale for the project area. A map was designed in the GIS environment using The Trust’s own brand guidelines on fonts, colour palettes, logos, and layout. The final file was supplied as a high resolution JPEG.
Result
The map was well received by the client and delivered to a tight schedule, and seamlessly fitted in to the branded report.
