Lovell Johns were commissioned to create an interactive web mapping application to enhance an online publication for the NATO Public Diplomacy Division. In addition to the standard pan and zoom functionality, the client wanted to be able to update and change datasets dynamically to see resultant changes in maps and organograms.
The display and functionality were made accessible within standard web vector formats and caters for the needs of low bandwidth users. The website uses a complex database driven Flash application to display interactive maps and information along a timeline charting NATO’s evolution. Content management, map behaviour and visual appearance can all me modified through an XML file to allow dynamic update.
