A new suite of Indoor and Outdoor maps
Requirement
Lovell Johns were approached by Cheshire College South and West Marketing Team with an interest in developing a new range of indoor and outdoor maps. With 3 busy Campuses in Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Chester, the College were looking to work closely with a specialist map designer to improve information for students and visitors faced with navigating complex multi-floor sites.
Solution
By consulting on previous similar Campus Maps and indoor mapping examples, Cheshire were able to narrow down the available design possibilities to arrive at a detailed scope of work and timescales. Our staff undertook a visit to each site to meet with the Team and take photographs of key building aspects and internal spaces. The indoor maps were also informed by Cheshire’s available Estates Plans which were digitized from PDF copies to speed up the design process.
Result
In total, 3 Campus Maps and 11 Floor Plans were produced to a consistent brand style. The Campus Maps show off the key frontage and aspect of each building whilst the Floor Plans are colour-coded and referenced by use in a detailed key. In particular the Floor Plans will be helping easier room transition for students and be an asset for visitor open days.
