GIS training and support services to improve recycling levels case study.
Tetra Pak are one of the world’s biggest suppliers of food and beverage packaging solutions. Tetra Pak UK are working hard to ensure their cartons are widely recycled across the country. They monitor the status of carton collection and recycling in every local authority and support efforts to improve recycling levels.
Lovell Johns were asked to implement GIS in the Recycling Operations Department. After an initial consultation, an existing GIS software license from Esri was upgraded for use across the department. Lovell Johns sourced a range of free and paid-for datasets for use in the GIS. Existing in-house data was geo-referenced so that it could be displayed in several purpose-made maps. Bespoke training materials were prepared before a two day on-site visit which included multiple installations of software, software registration, installation of data and training. Follow-up support and step-by-step guides were provided after the site visit.
