Requirement
Lovell Johns were commissioned by Quarto, leading global publisher of illustrated non-fiction books, for their 2025 publication Darker than the Sun. Quarto were seeking specialist cartographic design services for a series of varied maps to help visualise James Bond’s journeys across 25 films continents over six decades.
Solution
The book describes the locations for each Bond film from Dr. No in 1962 through to Not Time to Die in 2021. Maps vary greatly in scale and content; from city maps of Venice and Cairo showing key set locations and hotels; through to small scale maps showing how a film was shot across several continents. All maps share a key which helps the reader understand both fictional and real locations.
Result
In total, forty nine maps were produced in time for a print deadline and publication in November 2025.
