Requirement
East Kilbride Community Trust aims to promote community development and improved health and wellbeing of the people in East Kilbride through a range of activities and programmes. EKCT approached Lovell Johns with an enquiry for a custom map design of their woodland area. The Trust wanted to promote the woodland walking opportunities and wildlife on offer at the back of Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride.
Solution
The client provided a working draft map of features from which we were able to understand the detailed locations of the woodland, natural habitats and wildlife to be highlighted. We also agreed on a style of map by referencing a previous biodiversity map produced by Lovell Johns.
The map clearly highlights the outdoor opportunities and greenspace on offer amongst the built-up area. There is a detailed key to help the map user and useful call-out boxes around the map with textual information on things to look out for.
Result
The map was delivered in 6 weeks from instruction and can be used for royalty-free promotion as it is based on Open Data sources.
