Requirement
Lovell Johns were approached as part of a competitive Request for Quotation, to submit a costed proposal for a map of the Eastern Cluster Business Improvement District. Cross River Partnership, acting on behalf of this East London BID, were seeking a new engaging map to help provide wellbeing suggestions and walking routes in this unique area of London.
Map Solution
Following appointment, Lovell Johns quickly engaged with the client to agree on the preferred map style from our submitted examples of similar maps in use on websites, on totems and in leaflets. With the coverage area and nominal map scale also agreed, the design process focused on the display of information in a clear and uncluttered style, using contrasting colours where necessary for Accessibility. The map highlights alternate routes as well as indicating steps and uneven paths. For best practice, we worked up an agreed discreet area for ‘pilot’ design of the walking map to allow early feedback on the agreed design approach and style.
As well as the map design, Lovell Johns laid up the surrounding text and imagery and printed the A3 folding leaflet on FSC paper.
Result
Printed copies of the folded leaflet were delivered to the BID for local distribution. Lovell Johns also supplied a PDF version of the leaflet for marketing and social media purposes. Sefiant Otaru, Project Manager, was pleased with the result: “The Lovell Johns team was professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. They delivered a user-friendly and engaging map within a tight schedule that has been received well by EC BID.”
