Requirement
Plymouth City Council approached Lovell Johns with a Brief for the cartographic design of a series of maps and signage for Derriford Community Park and Local Nature Reserves. The client was seeking a new information resource to highlight the different habitats, trails and links to the wider area and to encourage active travel within the parks.
Solution
Our Proposal allowed the client to narrow down their preferred map style. The design of the maps ensures they work for a wide range of visitors and differentiate between the habitat types supplied by the client. Walking and cycling routes are shown, also some features to be seen in the area. The new map uses icons to highlight landmarks and Points of Interest. Lovell Johns laid up the maps with supporting text, photos and images to create an entire document ready for print.
Different ‘You are Here’ versions of Derriford Park were produced. Also dedicated maps for Poole Farm and Seaton Valley, as well as Bircham Valley and Forder Valley. The A0 size maps were supplied on 3mm thick weatherproof material to fit local signage.
Result
The new map for Derriford Community Park – with Poole Farm at its heart – can be seen on the Council website.
