Requirement
Shorefield Holidays operate eight holiday and leisure parks in the UK, based along the South Coast of England. They approached Lovell Johns with a need to develop new mapping for each of their sites to help holidaymakers find their way around the parks. The client needed a clear map to show the layout of the site, with key features and activities highlighted.
Solution
Lovell Johns proposed several design ideas based on previous maps created to help Shorefield select a suitable style. The client supplied some existing data, including maps and aerial images covering the holiday parks, which were used to create a new royalty-free base map. Lovell Johns chose a neutral palette and added 3D images of the key site buildings and a Legend. Tree symbols and green tones were used to reflect the environment of the parks. Two parks have now been mapped, the Oakdene and Shorefield sites were prioritised, and Lovell Johns look forward to working on the rest in due course.
Result
The maps were well received by the client and delivered to schedule. They have all been printed and are issued to holidaymakers on their arrival. In 2021 we developed a series of hand-drawn illustrated maps to encourage visitors to explore the beautiful countryside surrounding the parks.
