Requirement
Symington Family Estates is a wine company and Port wine house in Portugal, which owns and operates several vineyards and wineries and owns several brands of Port, Madeira wine and Duoro DOC wines, including some of the oldest and most well-known Port and Madeira brands. Lovell Johns were first engaged by Symington in 2000 with a requirement to produce a topographic style map for promoting the vineyards to visitors.
Solution
The base mapping detail was captured from source materials supplied by the client, including the hill shading features. Vineyard locations and Points of Interest were then added to the map and an enlarged Inset Map created to help show the busiest area of the Douro Valley in sufficient detail. The specific map symbols were designed by a third party agency and supplied in compatible digital format.
Result
The Port Vineyards map is now in the 7th Edition with Lovell Johns managing biennial update requests, reprints and shipping to Portugal.
