Requirement
Lovell Johns were approached by EC Business Improvement District (EC BID) with an interest in developing a new public facing 3D map that would be user-friendly for the local community. The client wanted to highlight certain key buildings and features within the BID, whilst generalising ‘less interesting’ areas of their footprint.
Solution
EC BID identified a favoured map style from some suggested Case Study examples. The map uses a mixture of styles to highlight the key aspects of the area, from a pull-out illustration of Leadenhall Market to a detailed 3D frontage of the Four Seasons Hotel. The eight key illustrations are numbered and referenced in the Key to avoid clutter. Key local greenspace and Tube stations are depicted using appropriate symbology. The muted tones of the outer areas and limited road naming help to focus the user on the BID and what it has to offer.
