Series mapping of a range of bible map designs
The Bible and Gospel Trust was established in 1932 as a charity, distributing Christian literature and Bibles throughout Britain and worldwide. The Trust approached Lovell Johns for assistance with a series mapping project, involving the cartographic design of a series of bible maps, which they felt needed improvement from their current versions and were keen to utilise their existing Illustrator map files.
The Trust were unhappy with the consistency of design across the maps and asked Lovell Johns to help improve the originals to create a range of matching maps, each to the same specification. Our cartographers devised a new style sheet to be applied to all maps, ensuring all colours were consistent and text sizes were the same for features on all images.
Although the changes are subtle and did not affect the overall design, they have created a more harmonious appearance. All 16 maps were provided as print ready files for inclusion in the new set of bibles.
The Trust commented, “I would like to thank you for doing such an excellent job on the maps – they are greatly improved from the ones we first presented to you.”
