Client Requirement
Feather River Recreation & Park District (FRRPD) provides and maintains quality parks, recreation experiences and related facilities for residents of their district in Butte County, California. FRRPD, on behalf of the Oroville Tourism Committee and funded by Explore Butte County, the local tourism board, approached Lovell Johns with an interest in developing a new printable and interactive online map to highlight local resources and promote the wealth of activities.
Map Solution
With the watercolour style agreed, the client supplied a list of the features and attractions to highlight, as well as photographs to help the illustration process. We agreed coverage for the main map, as well as an inset area to show the town in its wider context. The illustrator created a sketch map for comment and approval before starting work on the main colour image.
A front cover and leaflet was also designed for the client to allow for local printing. Client used the printable file to create more in-depth content copy on the back of the map for visitor use.
Upon final artwork approval, our digital mapping staff produced an interactive version of the map with hotspots on key map points which expand to give more detail on individual sites of particular interest.
Result
The map and interactive version were delivered to a happy client.
